Vice President Mike Pence helped deliver personal protective equipment to a nursing home in Virginia this week. He spoke about the delivery on Thursday, which he said was one of many installments from FEMA that will be going out to more than 15,000 nursing homes across the country.

When asked about states reopening before meeting federal guidelines, Pence reiterated the task force’s guidance are recommendations. He added governors are applying them according to each state’s unique circumstances.

He then expressed confidence states are moving in a responsible way to reopen.

“We’re seeing great progress across the country. What the American people have done over the last two months has saved lives, it has slowed the spread. It has preserved the resources of our health care system, just as it was intended to do.” – Mike Pence, Vice President of the United States

According to the vice president, governors who are reopening their states are following the administration’s latest guidance, data and science while implementing testing.
