UNHAPPY MEAL: Northerns Are Not Lovin’ Ronald McDonald’s Re-Opening Plans, and They Won’t Forget It

RONALD McDonald has sparked fury among Britons living outside the M25 after only opening stores and Drive-Thru’s down south.

McDonald’s announced it was re-opening 39 Drive-Thru lanes across the UK and ROI in addition to the 15 it opened last week, all close to London.

Myths about McDonald's Food to Stop Believing | Eat This Not That

Despite huge fast-food chains such as Burger King, Subway and KFC re-opening outlets across the UK – Ronald McDonald has been accused of acting like a total clown with the locations he has chosen.

Twitter user Bex slammed the chain and said: “Seriously?? Still nothing in the north?? Are we non existent??”

Christian said: “You do know that ther are people living beyond the m25 don’t you Ronald?”

Matt Hall said: “We wont forget this…. Sincerely The North.”

Sophie added: “Feel like shit just want a Big Mac”

Responding to unHappy-meal (sorry, we couldn’t resist) fans, McDonald’s said in a statement: “These Drive Thru pilot restaurants were all chosen as they are close to one of our distribution centres as we continue to prepare our supply chain for reopening.”

Maccies is one of the UK’s favourite fast-food outlets with a whopping 1,300 restaurants that served a record 91 million Big Macs in 2013.

The Queen is also a McDonald’s lover, with the Crown owning a drive-thru Maccies at Bath Road Shopping Park in Slough, where there is a McDonald’s.

McDonald’s closed its UK stores in the fight against Coronavirus on March 22.

The store had previously closed all of its seating areas in a bid to keep Brits from spreading the virus – but now it will instead SHUT every store in the UK, including UberEats and DriveThru operation.

In a statement Britain’s best-loved fast-food chain said: “We have taken the difficult decision to close all McDonald’s restaurants in the UK and Ireland by 7pm on Monday 23rd March at the latest.”

“This is not a decision we are taking lightly, but one made with the well-being and safety of our employees in mind as well as in the best interests of our customers.

“We will work with local community groups to responsibly distribute food and drink from our restaurants in the coming days.”

“Thank you to our brilliant employees for their hard work during this incredibly challenging time.”

“We look forward to seeing you all again as soon as it is safe for us to reopen.”
